Makefield Therapeutics has licensed Intellectual Property covering a novel platform technology from Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University for the generation of powders comprised of hydrogel/glassy matrix (hybrid) nanoparticles that in a first application are delivering controlled and sustained therapeutic levels of gaseous nitric oxide (NO).
In addition to NO, the hybrid particles can be utilized for encapsulation and delivery of peptides, nucleic acids, imaging agents (contrast media), and traditional small molecule pharmaceuticals.
Tissue targeting is achievable through the incorporation of targeting moieties that enhance tissue selectivity. The formulations can be fine tuned to control rate and duration of delivery.
